The three-arm transporter, also called a double protractor, has a degree scale with one fixed and two movable arms. It is used to determine positions in coastal navigation. Two angles are measured between three landmarks. From these angles, the searched location follows by moving the three-arm transporter with the measured angles on the map until the arms intersect the landmarks. The searched position appears in the centre of the degree disc.
