Description

With its polarizing filters and the Schüler-double-prism, the HORIZON ULTRA is optimally equipped for sun observation. The double prism redirects the horizon beam to the right and left of the sun’s reflection on the water and thus prevents any lighting-related measuring errors. In addition every little sloping of the sextant is immediately visible on the horizon.

The polarization shade lenses are only mounted on our HORIZON ULTRA. There is one polarization shade glas each in horizon and index direction.

This extra simplifies the handling of the sextant during observations.

By turning the glass, the brightness of the celestial object can be adjusted continuously. This has the advantage that no shade glasses have to be removed or added during the observation and thus the celestial object can be held more easily in the field of view.

Furthermore, there are scales for a combined dip and index error adjustment on the drum screw. This index error adjustment on the sextant was developed by Bobby Schenk.

The polarization filters allow for continuous adjustments toward the horizon as well as the sky. The large mirror makes sure that you never lose sight of the stars, even when the seas are rough and the boat experiences heavy heeling.

Please note: The artificial horizon do not fit together with the sextant in the Rough Case. Here we recommend the wooden case, in which an additional holder is attached.
